Special Articles May 12 School District Bond Elections By TexasISD.com Jul 13, 2007, 04:22 Email this article  Printer friendly page   The first round of uniform election dates for local school district bond issues is history. In November 06 and now May 07, elections were held only on uniform election dates and, according to my data, the combined passage rate is over 80%. The uniform election dates did not have the negative impact some pundits predicted. These election results are a great statement from taxpayers about local schools. It says local school districts are a high priority for taxpayers and they will support and even raise their own taxes to improve facilities and educational opportunities for students in local school districts. In November 06 there were 64 school districts that held bond elections, 51 of those passed (which is 80% passage). We now have the first May bond election results and, based on the data we collected, there were 134 districts that had elections, some with multiple issues. One hundred fifteen (115) passed all issues. One district had one pass and one fail and in 15 districts all failed - an 86% passage rate .
