From TexasISD.com Joe's Commentaries The bond list is close to completion. We now have 67 districts with issues for the May election date. We lack some of the details, but will continue to update and keep you posted right up to Election Day. We will begin posting results as we receive them. I know many of these districts and the needs they have. These bonds will be used to address identified needs in the community and hopefully enhance student achievement. If trends hold true approximately 80% of these proposals will be approved. An updated bond list can always be found on The Lone Finalist. I wish you all success. – js – webmaster@texasisd.com
Another Topic - SBOE meetings: For the sake of efficiency, transparency and open government better online access to the SBOE meetings needs to be addressed. The system is limited to 100 simultaneous users providing audio only to all of Texas. I am usually able to be one of the 100, but yesterday I did not make it. We can do better – a streaming video system similar to the one at the capitol would do the job. We have several articles that cover the SBOE meeting. The price of fuel is motivating more people to consider alternative delivery methods for training, conferences etc. Today I will be attending the “SFA 2008 National Summit Rural education online. I am looking forward to this event. Links to this free national conference are included in our bulletin board section. The conference starts at 8:30.
I am pleased to see that Waller ISD is finally able to sell the bonds that were approved 10 months ago. However, if you read the article from the Houston Chronicle you will note the Waller ISD adversaries are not exactly giving up. While not everyone thinks this much money should be spent on a football stadium, I must say the voters' approval of the bonds is ultimate local control and if they pay the taxes and want a football stadium, they should have one. © Copyright 2006 by TexasISD.com |
