Joe’s Commentary: Last Week’s Local School District Elections Were a Success - 94% of Bond Dollar Value Approved
Repost! with Updated data: This morning I have been reviewing and updating the bond and TRE results. I discovered an additional TRE that was held on November 8 - Royal ISD. It was not ratified. According to TexasISD.com current data, there were 11 school district TREs held on November 8th. Six were ratified and five were not. For the year 2016, of the 49 elections that have been held, 40 (81.6%) were ratified and 9 (18.37%) were not supported by the voters. Needville ISD will hold a Tax Ratification Election on December 17, 2016.
We found an additional bond election held on November 8 at Fayetteville ISD, for $7,950,000 in 3 propositions - All passed. Nineteen (76%) school districts passed at least one proposition and 6 (24%) failed to pass any propositions. The passage of bonds by dollar value is quite remarkable: Ninety-four. Over ninety percent (94.2%) or $2,719,875,577) was approved out of $2,887,475,577 total. Therefore only 5.8% was rejected by voters.
