Early voting starts today across the state and October 22 is declared Educator Voting Day by TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators).

TASA’s website encourages educators in your districts to get out and vote on Monday and to wear their "I Voted" stickers on campus to model civic engagement. Learn more.

Be an Informed Voter

There are many websites and materials available to assist educators in getting out the vote. Before you head to the polls, be sure you have done your homework.

  • See TASA's Voting & Elections Toolkit for resources to guide you through the voting and election processes and to help you encourage others to vote in support of public education. Find more voting information at TexasEducatorsVote.com and the League of Women Voters website.

  • See a list of the candidates on the ballot for your county by searching this Texas Secretary of State website.

  • Research the education stances of candidates for the Legislature and SBOE at TeachtheVote.org and TexasTeachersVote.org. Also note that The Texas Parent PAC, a bipartisan political action committee for parents and others who support high-quality public education, has released its list of endorsements of Texas candidates.

  • Do an online search for a sample ballot for your county to print and complete as you research candidates, or enter your address at vote411.org to pull up a list of the races that will be on your ballot, then print out a sheet that indicates your preferences to take with you to the polls.

There are more than 50 statewide and local races to be decided plus over 50 local ISD bond and Tax Ratification Elections. “Research has shown that something like 60 percent of the voters cast early votes which continues through November 2 with election day on November 6." - js - webmaster@texasisd.com
