SB 276 (Watson) would remove the limitation on the number of students that a single nonprofit entity granted a charter to provide adult education may serve. It is a companion to HB 852 (Parker) mentioned above.

SB 489 (Lucio) would add prevention of the use of e-cigarettes to the list of topics to be considered by the local school health advisory council.

SB 1317 (Uresti) would prohibit a district from requiring a teacher to report for service at the beginning of a school year earlier than the seventh business day before the first day of instruction. A district would also have to notify each district teacher of any meetings or training that the teacher would be required to attend that is scheduled to occur on noninstructional days in the following school year before the last day that a teacher may resign.

SB 1634 (Taylor, L.) would allow a district to reduce the number of service days required of teachers if the district anticipates providing less than 180 days of instruction in a school year.
