Groundbreaking ceremonies were held recently for what will become the District’s 12th comprehensive high school. Located on the far west side of the District on Galm Road, the yet-unnamed-campus is anticipated to relieve Harlan and O’Connor high schools although no boundaries have been set yet.

The school is located on a 102-acre site and is designed to accommodate 2,800 students in a building area of 430,000 square feet.

There are several unique aspects to this new campus. It is designed around two courtyards to allow for outdoor learning and creative centers for students. It is also located near Government Canyon, giving the campus some unique partnership opportunities especially through science, geography, and history classes.

Students will also have the opportunity to learn about emerging energy technology which could lead to working on solar panels or wind farms upon graduation.

The school is being built with funds from the voter-approved 2018 bond election.
