This is the 18th school year district has earned state’s highest financial accountability rating - The Texas Education Agency has awarded the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District with a Superior “A” Rating as part of its Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
The “Superior” rating is the state’s highest ranking for financial accountability, demonstrating the quality of PSJA ISD’s financial management and reporting system. The FIRST rating system ensures that Texas school districts are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and improves the management of their financial resources. The system was designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
“Thank you to the members of our Business Office and PSJA Family for their leadership in managing our district’s financial resources and helping us achieve this accomplishment,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo.
Districts are rated based on 15 indicators such as submission of an Annual Financial Report, external independent auditor report, as well as timely payments to the Teacher Retirement System, to name a few. This is the 19th year PSJA ISD receives this Superior Rating.
