Last spring, the Brownsboro ISD Education Foundation, provided about $12,000 in teacher, teams of teachers and campus grants for innovative ideas.

One funded project was the Brownsboro Junior High Robotics team creation—and that has resulted in their participating in the Texas Education Service Region VII Competition this fall.

“The support of the Foundation is greatly appreciated,” said Dr. Keri Hampton, assistant superintendent. "It allows our students to do so many fun and creative projects in a learning atmosphere.”

No tax dollars are spent by the Foundation.  The Foundation pays for projects not typically funded by state funding.

The teacher grant program is a competitive-based grant submission process; the board of directors of the Foundation determine the recipients but are not told the names of the teachers or campuses who are applying.

“We want our donors to feel confident that their investment in Brownsboro ISD is upheld with the utmost service stewardship,” said adviser Dr. Larry Goddard, Certified Fund-Raising Executive.  “We serve the donors who support the district—we want to be fair to all campuses and employees. Notice in the pictures how involved the students are in robotics; educators must be as creative and innovative as possible today to keep up with the students.”

The Foundation was created in 2014 by a group of citizens from across the 200-square mile district.  Comprising about nine different communities, the mission of the Brownsboro ISD Education Foundation is to provide funding and encouragement to educators and learners achieve their best possible results.

"Donors to the Brownsboro ISD Education Foundation include anonymous donor(s), The Edwin A. "Blue" and Janice Owen Miller Charitable Fund, held by the East Texas Communities Foundation, and other benevolent believers in the power of education," said Goddard.

The volunteer board of directors includes: Tom Williams, President;
Garry Houston, Vice President; Milton Wallace, Treasurer; Anita Pollard, Secretary; Elton Caldwell; Bobby Teague; Billy Beasley; Carla Cade; Brenda Evans; Kari Bersano; Charla Hendrix and Judge Scott Williams.
