Murchison ISD superintendent steps down
After 34 years in education, Richard Jones resigned for his position as Murchison Independent School District Superintendent on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Jones, 66, said the school board approved the resignation Wednesday and after seven years with the district he is looking forward to a little a little rest and relaxation. “I don't have any plans yet other than to enjoy life,” Jones said. “We accomplished a lot of things over my seven years with the district and I really enjoyed it all.” Murchison ISD issued the following statement when reached for comment Tuesday, “An agreement has been reached which allows Mr. Jones the ability to pursue other interests and permits the board to pursue hiring another superintendent. The board and Mr. Jones have entered into the agreement believing it is in their respective best interests and in the best interests of the district.”
