(Austin, TX) — School board candidates and interested citizens can learn about the demands and rewards of school board service in a free Webinar offered by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). These online workshops take place Monday, February 22, and Thursday, March 24, from noon to 1 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (all CST).

These workshops help attendees understand what is involved in being elected to and serving on a local school board. Learn the difference between the board’s and staff’s responsibilities, how to campaign constructively, and where to find information about being a candidate.

There is no cost to participate, but preregistration is required. For details or to register, go to Webinars at LTS.tasb.org. Participants should preregister at least three hours before the webinar to download the handout material. For more information, call TASB Leadership Team Services, 800.580.8272, extension 2452.

For more information about school board service and to view an informational video on the board’s role, go to LTS.tasb.org/candidates.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local Texas school boards. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.2 million school students.
