A new transparency tool created by the Texas Education Agency reveals an alarming number of the state’s educators are committing crimes.  The state’s new Educator Misconduct Reporting Dashboard displays data on reports submitted to the TEA from various sources—including fingerprint-based criminal history alerts from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI.   Dashboard data for the first eight months of the 2026 fiscal year, from September 2025 through April 2026, shows 17,060 criminal history alerts. That’s an average of 2,133 Texas school employees every month who are arrested or have their criminal records updated.  In fiscal 2025, the monthly average was 1,938, with a total of 23,257 criminal history updates for the year. view article arw

Wylie ISD has received and accepted the resignation of Wylie East High School Principal Tiffany Doolan. Mrs. Doolan notified the district on May 26 of her decision to step down after 19 years of service to Wylie ISD students, staff, and families. For the past four months, Wylie East High School and Wylie ISD have faced significant public attention following the Feb. 2, 2026, “Why Islam” incident at the school. From the beginning, the district acknowledged that the situation should never have occurred and that serious mistakes were made. The district, Board of Trustees, and campus leadership publicly apologized, accepted responsibility for the procedural failure, and took immediate action to address the matter. Corrective measures were implemented, and procedures were strengthened to help prevent such a situation from happening again.  Wylie ISD has consistently stated that the district does not promote religion, politics, or ideology and strongly believes those matters belong between students and their families. Wylie ISD also rejects any claim that the district was dishonest or misleading regarding the events of Feb. 2. The district has communicated transparently with Wylie East parents, the community, and the media throughout this matter. Assertions that the district intentionally promoted a religion, attempted to hide facts, or failed to address the matter are false. view article arw

Regents of the University of North Texas System approved dozens of tenure applications, without public discussion, as part of their recent quarterly meeting.  The tenure applications cover all UNT institutions, with the bulk coming from the main campus in Denton. Supporting documents for these applications covered more than 30 percent of the 155-page agenda book for the meeting.  The applications were passed on the consent agenda. Consent agendas are a tool designed to allow governmental bodies to quickly move through non-controversial items but are frequently abused to hide controversial measures.  Texas Scorecard performed a basic search on these applications and found several with backgrounds in far-left “scholarship” covering areas like critical race theory and LGBT activism. Much of this material is also available in the regents’ agenda book. view article arw
