An Onalaska Elementary School employee was arrested and booked into the Angelina County Jail Tuesday on charges including possession or promotion of child pornography and assault causing bodily injury, according to jail records and a statement from the school district. The employee, Jerry Michael Cobb, was booked March 3 at the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office. Records show the charges were issued out of Polk County. In a statement released Wednesday, Onalaska Independent School District Superintendent Kenneth Fraga said the district was notified of the arrest by law enforcement.

A middle school teacher was accused of having a relationship with a former student. Local parents identified the employee as an 8th grade educator who was named a 2023 Goliad ISD Teacher of the Year. They alleged she had communicated with students via Snapchat, describing the teacher’s actions as “grooming.”

Jainya Walder allegedly took a Moore Middle School student off campus without authorization and drove while intoxicated. Newly obtained court documents show a Celina middle school teacher, arrested last October for being intoxicated in class, had taken a student off campus and driven drunk with the girl in her car. Jainya Bystrova Walder, 40, was removed from her classroom on the afternoon of October 30, 2025, under suspicion of intoxication, then arrested and charged with endangering a child, a second-degree felony.

Substitute teacher Madison Jones and her boyfriend Zackery Dondlinger now face a total of 39 felony charges, including aggravated sexual assault of a 5-year-old child. New charges have been filed in a shocking case of a woman accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old to gratify a man. North Texas substitute teacher Madison Paige Jones and her boyfriend Zackery Harold Dondlinger, who were arrested in December, have now been indicted on a total of 39 child sex crime charges related to the case. Jones, 31, was a substitute teacher in the Midlothian Independent School District at the time of her arrest on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and possession of more than 500 images of child sexual abuse material. Dondlinger, Jones’ 37-year-old boyfriend, was arrested a week later in Loving County. Both are now being held in the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Ellis County.

Killeen ISD school board names Donald Stewart Jr. as deputy superintendent for learning services
The Killeen ISD Board of Trustees approved Superintendent King Davis’ recommendation to hire Donald Stewart Jr. as deputy superintendent for learning services during Tuesday evening’s workshop meeting.
After the unanimous vote by trustees, KISD’s head spokeswoman, Karen Rudolph, issued a news release to announce the board’s decision. She stated that Stewart is a “veteran Texas educator” with 25 years of experience in public education, including service as a teacher, campus administrator, and district leader focused on improving academic systems and student outcomes.

Houston ISD's state-appointed Superintendent Mike Miles has promoted the district's chief of academics to a new role titled "deputy superintendent." In the newly created position, Kristen Hole will oversee both the academics and schools offices at HISD, effective Tuesday. Miles wrote in the announcement that the role strengthens the district's "commitment to deliver exceptional outcomes for every student at HISD." Texas wants public schools to stop hiring uncertified teachers. South San ISD is leaning on Teach for America.
Teach For America, a national recruiting group that places young professionals in classrooms with the most need, is growing its local footprint through way of South San Antonio Independent School District.
South San and the nonprofit recently entered into a partnership to fill district vacancies for the 2026-27 school year. Under the agreement, corps members, the name for Teach For America recruits — would commit at least two years to South San ISD, and the district can hire and place up to 25 corps members in its classrooms.
