Mineola ISD Middle School Administrator named Region VII Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year

Kendall Gould, Assistant Principal of Mineola Middle School in Mineola has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TAASP) as the Region VII Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year.  TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the twenty region Education Service Centers in the state.  School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions.  Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.  As a Region VII winner, Mrs. Gould is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year.

 

Kendall Gould, begins her 25th year in education and is serving in her fourth year as Assistant Principal at Mineola Middle School.  She attended Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  She attended Texas A&M Commerce University and was awarded a Masters of Education.  Mrs. Gould is known as a risk taker, a visionary and a leader of learners in Mineola ISD. She is credited with numerous achievements including Rookie of the Year Award in Galena Park ISD and Teacher of the Year Award in Mineola ISD in 2012.  


As an instructional leader on her campus, she has facilitated the implementation of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), a mentoring program for students, and the Blended Learning pilot initiative with Raise Your Hand Texas.  Mrs. Gould states, “This is an exciting time for Mineola. It is a time of educational transformation and innovation.  Innovation requires the kind of honesty from teachers that allows them to prioritize and individualize what’s most important in any given circumstance, and cultivate what is necessary from there.  I am grateful to be able to support my teachers and honored to receive this award.”

Her principal, Mike Sorenson, commented that “Kendall is the heartbeat of our campus.  Her desire to reach every student where they are and to meet their personal goals is admirable.  She is a tireless leader who strives to create an environment that promotes excellence and a sense of family.  She is very deserving of this honor.”  Mrs. Gould will be recognized during the Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards Dinner on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Hilton Austin Downtown Hotel.
