A highly-skilled fighter in the ring…A master chef in the kitchen…A teacher of the year in the classroom.  It’s great watching someone with passion do what they love and what they were truly meant to do.  The staff and community of Lancaster ISD are happy for Dr. Mike McFarland as he has been named the Lone Finalist for Crowley ISD. The possibility that he has the opportunity to go and do great work for more students and families in another community in the DFW area is amazing.

His time in Lancaster ISD has been wonderful as he has led the district’s transformation for the last seven years. And if you’ve been following our journey, you have had a front row seat to our transformation and progress.

Our academic progress and improvement in fiscal management have led to many grant opportunities and external partnerships. During the last three years, we have received more than 60 Academic Distinctions from the Texas Education Agency and have received a multimillion dollar investment in our STEM Education program from Texas Instruments. We have one of the highest graduation rates of the Best Southwest and charters schools and the highest percentage of Pre-K students enrolled in our area.

Our hard work led to our Board of Trustees being recently named the 2016 Most Outstanding School Board in Texas by the Texas Association of School Administrators and the National School Board of the Year by the National Alliance of Black School Educators.

The progress in Lancaster ISD is undeniable and we are proud of our work.
